Grand National - At The Races

Four for the National: John Hunt

Best outsider in the race is GO CONQUER, who is such a good jumper, arguably the best in the field. Not short of class, he ran out a tremendously impressive winner at Ascot last season and arguably more so when winning the Skybet Chase on his most recent run. He is way too big a price for one with such ability and Nigel Twiston-Davies is looking for his third Grand National win.

Owner J P McManus is an enduring character at this event and both ANIBALE FLY and MINELLA ROCCO can fill the frame. The 'Fly' put up a superb display in the Gold Cup and could easily repeat or better his run here last year whilst Minella Rocco attempts to rediscover his best form which would give him every chance; he was second in the 2017 Gold Cup and beat Native River at Cheltenham the previous year.

A win for Tiger Roll would obviously be popular but quite why PLEASANT COMPANY is such a big price compared to him is a mystery. The 'Tiger' may have improved substantially this year, but Willie Mullins will have his horse tuned up having failed to win last year’s race by an inch or two.
